Social Action / Social Justice
On May 19th, the Social Action/Social Justice committee hosted its annual Mitzvah Day. We collected personal care items for shelters, baby items for Haitian refugees, and used eyeglasses, hearing aids, and cell phones to be refurbished. We wrote cards of caring and encouragement to the IDF, personal care cards to shut ins, made blankets for the VA, made cards for the candle bags distributed for Family Table and more.
Pride Liberation Seder
Sunday, June 2, 3 pm Join B'nai Tikvah & Temple Beth David for a Pride Liberation Seder
Learn about the LQBTQ+ movement and go on a journey with a Pride seder plate, which includes foods symbolic of the past, and which also provides a roadmap for the future. The Seder, held during Pride Month, uses the model of the Passover Haggadah and the Book of Exodus to tell the story of the liberation of the LGBTQ+ community. The Pride Haggadah is adapted to provide queer history, explain the variety of queer symbols, and furnish a platform for people to tell their personal stories. Light refreshments will be served.

Fundraiser
Caleb Greitzer, one of our Religious School Students is doing a service project in preparation for his becoming a Bar Mitzvah on June 1st. He created a t-shirt honoring the special people in his life who have or are currently battling cancer & is donating the proceeds to the American Cancer Society.
This is a great opportunity to show our hospitality and support a worthy cause. Responsibilities will be to hand out snacks and drinks, check-in riders' on a list, and point them to the restrooms. The money raised by the riders goes to support the Tikvah Program at Camp Ramah which provides an inclusive summer camp experience for children with disabilities. You don’t have to be a rider. You don’t have to be a member of the men’s club. You don’t have to be a man. You do have to be willing to make a difference.
Please get in touch with David Kaplan or call 617-538-3166 to volunteer or if you have questions.
Thank you to those who have donated to B'nai Tikvah! Donations may be made online or sent directly to the office.
