Annual Congregation Meeting Update:
Amended By-Laws, and you'll note that the By-Laws were amended during the meeting to refer to our Committees as "Teams."
Social Action / Social Justice
Linda and I want to thank the Social Action/Social Justice team for the hard work you did to make our fiscal year such a huge success! Among other things, we addressed food insecurity, along with Sisterhood- breast and ovarian cancer awareness, and cancer screening in men through the BRCA gene, voter registration letter writing to disenfranchised voters, letters of encouragement to the IDF, making blankets for the VA, writing letters to shut-ins, through Jewish Family and Childrens' Service, collecting eyeglasses, hearing aids, and cell phones to be refurbished and distributed, collecting personal care items for Father Bill's, collecting baby items along with the UU Church in Canton for Haitian refugees, a Pride Seder, complete with Pride symbols and stories of Stonewall and of Aids, and MORE good works!
Members of this year's team are: Sherri Finer, Ann Hartstein, Adrienne Fleishman, Adrienne, Misiph, Harriet Burak, Heidi Wortzman, Kayla Friedman, Jeffrey Weinberg, Stan Zoll, Nita Aines, Linda Leland and Phyl Hewson (co-chairs).
Juneteenth has just passed and we would be remiss if we did not acknowledge this important date! Juneteenth recognizes one of the most important moments in United States history. Also known as Emancipation Day, Freedom Day, Jubilee Day, Juneteenth Independence Day, Junteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the U.S! Although Juneteenth has been unofficially celebrated for more than 150 years, the U.S. now commemorates the day as an official holiday!
Remember that we collect used eyeglasses, hearing aids, and cell phones year round.
You are cordially invited to join our team in July as we begin planning our year. We are hoping to reschedule "Jewish Jeopardy," which we sadly needed to postpone. And we have already been asked to join the Mini Walk for Hunger on September 15th. There are so many ways to perform Mitzvot. You can participate in one activity or more, and/or you can join our team.
Phyl and Linda, Social Action/Social Justice co-chairs

Digital Yahrzeit Board
B’nai Tikvah’s electronic Yahrzeit Board, in our foyer, scrolls through the names of all those we remember during the week of their yahrzeit on the Hebrew calendar beside an image of flickering memorial candle. To view our digital Yahrzeit board online, purchase a digital plaque, or add a photo or bio to one, please click the image to access the online Yahrzeit Board and form.
